Abdominal splinter guard for flat abdominal protection

The abdominal splinter guard is a thin, lightweight and flexible protective insert for the anterior abdomen. It is designed to supplement the abdominal area in a suitable carrier. It cannot be used properly without a suitable cover because the fit and coverage cannot be reliably guaranteed.

Note on fit: Carrying covers from other manufacturers may affect the fit and secure hold. A tension-free, flat fit in the intended insertion compartment is crucial for reliable protection.

Protective performance and classification

The insert is designed as splinter protection in accordance with STANAG 2920. STANAG 2920 is a NATO test standard for fragmentation protection. It is tested with a fragmentation simulation bullet (FSP), in this case 1.1 grams, and the protection performance is described using the V50 characteristic value. V50 denotes the velocity at which complete penetration can be statistically expected in 50 percent of cases. The following applies to this product: V50 at least 446 meters per second with 1.1 grams of FSP.

The carrier material used is Twaron para-aramid. Para-aramid is a high-strength fiber that absorbs and distributes energy in protective packages through several layers. The insert is TPU-welded, which provides the aramid package with additional protection against moisture and UV radiation. With a thickness of 3 millimetres and a basis weight of 1.8 kilograms per square meter, the inlay remains slim and flexible. The guarantee is 5 years and the production is Made in Germany.

Important for classification: Splinter protection reduces the risk of fragments, but does not replace bullet protection. The following also applies: Ballistic protection cannot completely prevent injuries. Residual energy can act as trauma to the body and lead to injuries despite the fragments being stopped.

Protected body areas

Abdominal fragmentation protection covers the front abdomen in the abdominal area. This area contains important vascular structures as well as sensitive soft tissue and organs of the lower abdomen. Additional abdominal protection can usefully extend the protective area, particularly in the case of splinters from low angles or secondary fragments.

Correct use

Always wear ballistics with the strike face facing outwards, i.e. towards the outer shell. The strike face is either marked as "Strike Face" or, if unmarked, Strike Face is the side without technical data or manufacturer information printed on it.

The side with technical data is always the back and must be worn facing the body. When fitting, make sure that the insert in the insertion compartment is not twisted and lies flat.

Care instructions

If soiled, clean the insert with a damp cloth. The welded TPU film prevents UV radiation and moisture from penetrating the aramid package.

Do not use any chemical cleaning agents, as these can attack the TPU film and impair the performance of the aramid. Then dry the insert at room temperature and not on radiators or in direct sunlight.

Compatibility and fit

The abdominal splinter guard is designed as an insert for abdominal slide-in compartments, as used in drop-down solutions and matching bags in the abdominal area.
