Contract Cutting Services for Textiles and Technical Fabrics

Do you need custom-cut fabric pieces for your commercial production? Zentauron handles contract cutting of textiles and technical fabrics according to your specifications. We produce cut pieces for samples, prototypes, small batches, and recurring production orders.

Before beginning work, we review the intended material, the desired cutout shape, the required quantity, and the available documentation. This allows us to determine early on whether and under what conditions the cutting project can be carried out.

Custom Textile Cutting for Business and Industry

Our contract cutting service is aimed at companies, manufacturers, textile garment makers, and other commercial clients who require cut textile pieces for their own further processing.

Fabric cutting is performed on a project-by-project basis according to your specifications. Depending on the project, cutting data, templates, sample pieces, or agreed-upon measurements may be used. We assess which approach is suitable for the specific order before proceeding.

This page deals exclusively with the cutting of textiles. Information on additional sewing and manufacturing services can be found on our “Manufacturing and Large-Scale Sewing” page.

Our Contract Cutting Services

  • Custom fabric cutting according to customer specifications
  • Textile cutting for commercial further processing
  • Contract cutting of textiles and technical fabrics
  • Manual cutting
  • Machine cutting with a cutting machine
  • Digital arrangement of cut pieces via nesting
  • Cuts for samples and prototypes
  • Cuts for small production runs
  • Recurring production cutting

The type and scope of the service depend on the material, cutting contour, quantity, and the requirements of the respective project.

Cutting Methods and Digital Preparation

Depending on the material, contour, and scope of the order, cutting is performed manually or by machine. For simple contours, individual parts, and certain materials, cutting can be done by hand. A cutting machine is available for recurring or larger-scale cutting jobs.

The cut parts can be digitally arranged prior to cutting. Through this process, known as nesting, the individual contours are positioned as efficiently as possible on the available material surface.

The suitability of a cutting method for a project is determined based on the material, the contours, the quantity, and the available documentation.

Processable Textiles and Materials

Materials suitable for contract cutting include, among others:

  • Cotton
  • Polyester
  • Softshell
  • Fleece
  • CORDURA®
  • Blended fabric

We assess on a project-by-project basis whether a specific material is suitable for the desired cut. Factors such as material thickness, coating, construction, contour, and the desired quantity may play a role in this assessment.

For unknown or special materials, a material sample may be required for testing.

Material Provision and Procurement

Whether the material is provided by the client or procured through Zentauron is determined on a case-by-case basis for each project.

In general, we can source materials. This applies in particular to materials we work with regularly, such as CORDURA®. However, availability, specifications, color, quantity, and lead time must be verified before we prepare a quote.

If the customer provides the material, we require sufficient information regarding the type of material and the available quantity. Depending on the project, a material sample or preliminary testing may also be required.

Cutting Services for Samples, Small Batches, and Production Runs

Contract cutting can be used for various project phases. These include initial samples and prototypes as well as small-batch and recurring production orders.

Samples and Prototypes

Individual cut pieces or small quantities may be required for product development. These parts can be used to verify dimensions, contours, and further processing.

Small-batch production

Small-batch production is suitable, for example, for initial production runs, custom-made items, or limited demand. The economic feasibility is assessed individually for each project.

Recurring Production Cuts

For recurring orders, customized blanks can be produced again according to the agreed-upon specifications. This requires clear and reproducible project documentation.

For Which Clients Is Contract Cutting Suitable?

Our cutting service is aimed in particular at commercial clients who wish to supplement their own production processes or outsource the cutting step.

These may include, among others:

  • Textile manufacturers and sewing companies
  • Product developers and manufacturers
  • Industrial and manufacturing companies
  • Suppliers of custom-made textiles
  • Companies that process technical textiles

What matters is not the industry alone, but whether the material, shape, quantity, and specifications are compatible with our capabilities.

What information do we need for your inquiry?

The more complete the project details are, the more accurately we can assess feasibility and prepare a quote.

The following information is particularly helpful:

  • Type and thickness of material, if known
  • Dimensions and desired contours
  • Existing cutting data, templates, or sample parts
  • Desired quantity or volume-based pricing
  • Indication of whether the material is to be provided or procured
  • If material is to be procured: desired material, color, and required quantity
  • Requirements for sorting, labeling, or bundling
  • Desired delivery date
  • Information regarding the planned further processing

The specific documents and details required depend on the individual project. Any outstanding issues will be clarified before the quote is prepared.

Process for a cutting project

  1. Submit a request: You provide us with the available information, documents, and the desired quantity.
  2. Review the project: We review the material, contour, data availability, and overall feasibility.
  3. Clarify any outstanding issues: Questions regarding material, design, quantity, and delivery are addressed.
  4. Receive a quote: Based on the agreed-upon requirements, we prepare a project-specific quote.
  5. Carry out the cutting: After approval, we produce the cut parts according to the agreed-upon specifications.
  6. Prepare parts: The cut parts are prepared for shipping or the agreed-upon further processing.

Frequently Asked Questions About Custom Cutting

What types of textiles can be cut?

Materials we can process include, among others, cotton, polyester, softshell, fleece, CORDURA®, and blended fabrics. We’ll evaluate other materials based on the specific project requirements.

How are the textiles cut?

Depending on the project, cutting is done manually or with a cutting machine. The cut pieces can be digitally laid out in advance to make the most efficient use of the available material area.

Are samples and small production runs also possible?

Yes. Contract cutting is available for samples, prototypes, small batches, and production orders. Specific feasibility depends on the material, the shape, and the quantity required.

Is there a fixed minimum quantity?

Whether a minimum quantity is required depends on the material, the cutting specifications, and the scope of the order. Please let us know the desired quantity so we can assess the economic feasibility.

Can Zentauron source the material?

Material procurement is generally possible and is coordinated with the client on a project-by-project basis. Especially for CORDURA® and other materials we regularly process, we can verify whether the desired version can be procured. A binding commitment can only be made after checking availability, quantity, and delivery time.

What documentation is required?

It is helpful to provide details regarding the material, dimensions, quantity, desired delivery date, and any existing cutting data, templates, or sample parts. The specific documents required depend on the individual project.

Is further processing possible in addition to cutting?

Yes, depending on the project, we can also handle additional steps such as sewing or textile manufacturing. For more information, please visit our Manufacturing and Large-Scale Sewing page.
