Soft ballistic neck protection (SET) VPAM 2 - protection for neck and throat

The VPAM 2 soft ballistic neck protector (SET) is a thin, flexible ballistic insert in a pair for the neck and nape area. It supplements the protection on a combat vest or plate carrier precisely where mobility and coverage are equally important. The inserts are designed to be inserted into a suitable neck protection sleeve and then attached to the carrier system.

Protective performance and classification

The insert corresponds to protection class VPAM 2 with close-range bullet impact and is bullet-resistant against soft-core bullets from handguns in caliber 9 x 19 mm FMJ. An attached shot is yes. Ballistic protection reduces the risk of serious injuries, but does not completely prevent injuries: Depending on the hit pattern, impact energy and carrying configuration, residual energy (trauma) can still lead to injuries.

The material used is Twaron, a high-performance aramid (para-aramid), which is known for its high tear resistance combined with low weight and distributes the energy of a hit in multi-layer processing. The insert is designed for a flat construction: 6 mm thick with a basis weight of 3.6 kg/m². It is manufactured in Germany and comes with a 10-year warranty for the intended use.

Classification: VPAM 2 is a practical soft ballistic level for typical handgun threats. If you require a higher protection class for more extensive threat scenarios, you will find the VPAM 3 Plus soft ballistic neck protection variant for comparison.

Protected body areas

The neck protector targets the throat and neck area. This is where sensitive structures are located in a confined space, whereas this area is only covered to a limited extent in many carrying concepts. Positioned in a suitable neck protection sleeve, the pair of inserts supports all-round coverage of the neck area without unnecessarily restricting the necessary mobility when changing gaze and when wearing a helmet and visor.

Correct use / installation instructions for "Strike Face"

The installation direction is decisive for the correct protective effect:

• Always wear ballistic inserts with the "strike face" side facing outwards, i.e. towards the outer shell.
• If the strike side is marked (e.g. "Strike Face"), follow this marking.
• If no strike face is marked, the following applies: Strike face is the side without technical data or manufacturer information printed on it.
• The side with technical data is always the reverse side and must be worn facing the body.
• Only use in a suitable neck protection cover or carrying case. The product cannot be used properly without a cover.
• Note on covers from other manufacturers: Covers from other manufacturers can affect the fit and secure fit and thus impair the protective effect during use.

Care instructions

If soiled, clean the inlay with a damp cloth only. The welded TPU film prevents UV radiation and moisture from penetrating the aramid package. Please do not use any chemical cleaning agents, as these can attack the TPU film and impair the performance of the aramid.

Compatibility / carrier system

The soft ballistics are designed as an insert for a matching neck protection sleeve. For a harmonious setup, we recommend the ballistic neck protection (cover), which is designed for ZentauroN protective vests and plate carriers. Depending on the carrier system and cover model, the neck protection unit is attached to the equipment; always ensure a tension-free fit, complete insertion of the insert and correct alignment.
