The splinter protection insert in the SAPI Cut is designed for users who want to add lightweight, flexible fragmentation protection to their plate carrier. Thanks to its slim design with a thickness of 3 mm, the insert is particularly suitable when mobility and wearing comfort are paramount, without having to forego a clear protection classification.
The insert is intended for use in a suitable vest cover or carrying cover. It cannot be used properly without a suitable cover. A secure fit may be affected by the cut, tolerances or material structure of other manufacturers' sleeves.
The splinter protection is tested in accordance with STANAG 2920. STANAG 2920 is a NATO test standard for fragmentation protection, FSP is a fragment simulation projectile and V50 is a characteristic value for protection performance. The following applies to this insert: tested with 1.1 g FSP, V50 at least 446 m/s.
Twaron is used as the carrier material. This is a high-strength aramid that is used for ballistic applications because it distributes velocity and energy over many fiber layers and thus inhibits penetration. With a basis weight of 1.8 kg per square meter, the insert remains thin, light and flexible and thus supports a close fit in the plate carrier.
Important for the reality of safety: ballistic protection reduces risks, but does not completely prevent injuries. Residual energy can continue to act as trauma on the body and cause injuries. If you want to further reduce the impact load, a trauma protection insert (optional) is a useful addition.
Manufactured Made in Germany. The warranty is 5 years.
If, in addition to fragmentation protection, tested handgun protection is also required, soft ballistics can be considered in VPAM 3 Plus instead of fragmentation protection: Soft ballistics VPAM 3 Plus in SAPI Cut.
The insert is intended for the plate carrier in the SAPI Cut and targets the chest and back area. This covers the so-called lethal zone, in which vital structures are located, in particular the heart, lungs, large blood vessels and, in the back area, the spine. The exact coverage area depends on the size and cut of the wearer and the positioning in the plate pocket.
Always wear ballistics with the strike face facing outwards, i.e. towards the outer shell. Strike face is either marked (Strike Face) or, if unmarked: Strike Face is the side without imprint with technical data or manufacturer information. The side with technical data is always the reverse side and must be worn facing the body.
Make sure that the insert sits flat in the plate pocket and is not twisted or kinked. A correct fit supports the protective effect and wearing comfort.
Clean with a damp cloth if soiled. The welded TPU film prevents UV radiation and moisture from penetrating the aramid package. Do not use chemical cleaning agents, as these can attack the TPU film and impair the performance of the aramid.
The insert is intended for plate carriers with plate pockets in the SAPI Cut. It is crucial that the pocket accommodates the SAPI cut and that the insert is guided without tension or creasing. The fit may vary depending on the inner dimensions and material thickness of third-party sleeves, so check the fit before use.
Note: This product was specially designed for use by armed forces or law enforcement agencies.
